4 Shot, 1 Dead in Brinkley
BRINKLEY, Ark. – The Arkansas State Police (ASP) has released the names of a victim who died and the suspect arrested in a Thursday morning shooting that left three others injured.
An ASP news release issued Thursday afternoon identifies the victim as Xavier Parker, 33, of Brinkley. The scene was the Pinewood Apartments on West 6th Street.
The other three victims are described as adults. Two of the wounded were taken to hospitals. There’s no further word on their condition. The third survivor was treated at the scene for injuries described as not life-threatening. State Police identify James Frost, 43, of Brinkley, as the suspect who was taken into custody by the Brinkley Police Department in connection with the shootings.
The investigation is continuing and information from the state police investigation will be turned-over to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of formal criminal charges.
The Arkansas chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety, issued a statement in response to the four people who were shot, including one fatally, Thursday morning in Brinkley.
“Our hearts go out to the families of those affected by this tragedy. Gun violence is far too prevalent in our country. More than 90 Americans are killed by gun violence every day, and hundreds more are injured. On average, 50 women are shot to death by intimate partners every month. This is entirely unacceptable. Today’s senseless shooting is a sad reminder that we can and should do more to reduce gun violence in our state and country.”
