FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) – Three people were shot and killed at a home on Chaney Grove Road in the Timmonsville area of Florence County around 2 a.m Thursday, according to Chief Deputy Glen Kirby with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
Chereese Lutrica Jackson and her two daughters, Breyanna Priscilla Jackson, 12, and Nykerria Shanyia Jackson, 14, were found dead on scene.
Kirby said two other people were injured and airlifted to the hospital.
Deputies have charged Antwain Adams of Bishopville with three counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Community members said the people shot were all in the same family. Dozens of family members and friends showed up at the scene.
One man identified himself as a relative, but didn’t want his name released. He said he didn’t know why anyone would want to shoot the family.
Another woman said the family went to her church and are good people.
She’s praying the other two will survive. Kirby said they’ve arrested a man in connection with the murders.
The man was arrested shortly after the murders in the Bishopville area of Lee County.
His name and specific charges aren’t being released at this time.
John Rice lives next door to the family and says he didn’t hear any gunshots, but knew something bad had happened when he saw dozens of deputy patrol cars.
“Totally shocked. Couldn’t believe this actually happened. The nicest people in the world too,” said Rice. Rice said he’s relieved deputies have a suspect in custody.
Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken said he’ll release the victims’ names when their next of kin is notified.
A bond hearing is set for Adams for Friday morning.
