A shooting that left one man dead and seven people injured Saturday night is thought to have been gang-related, according to Kansas City, Kan., police. Police were called about 11:45 p.m. to a building near 16th and Minnesota streets, according to a statement from the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department.
As officers responded, Police Chief Terry Zeigler posted a message on Twitter saying “several” people had been reported shot.
Investigators found that a disturbance had ocurred inside the building and eight people had been shot. One of the victims, a man in his 20s, later died at a hospital. Police have not yet released his name.
Seven other people were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. Zeigler later posted another message on Twitter saying that police think the shooting was gang-related. No other details had been released as of Sunday morning.
