4 Wounded, 2 Dead in Violent Gunfire

PATERSON, NJ – A week of violence that had about four people struck by bullets in Paterson ended with four more people wounded by gunfire overnight with two of the victims fatally succumbing to the injuries in last night’s incident.
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald announce that at approximately 11:18 p.m. police officers on patrol responded to the area of 43 12th Avenue in the City of Paterson in response to hearing gunshots.
Police say upon officer’s arrival, they were directed to a BMW which had come to rest in the area of East 18th Street and Broadway.
According to police, inside the vehicle police discovered four shooting victims.
All of the victims were from Paterson and included a 30 year old male who suffered non-life threatening injuries, a 48-year-old man who was pronounced deceased upon his arrival at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, a 32 year old female who is currently in critical condition, and a 33-year-old woman who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police say during the investigation, it was determined that the victims were seated in their vehicle on 12th Avenue where the shooting took place, and then drove off until their car came to rest near East 18th Street and Broadway.
The investigation is active and ongoing, and more information will be released when it becomes available, and family notifications have been made authorities said.
