REDDICK — Four people were taken hospitals early Wednesday morning after an eruption of gunfire sent sheriff’s deputies scrambling to multiple scenes.
According to law enforcement officials, four people — one woman, two men and a male juvenile — were shot. Two of the injured were transported to one hospital, and the others to a different hospital for treatment. Information on their conditions was not released. Officials indicated they were still alive.
At least one of them had showed up at Marion County Fire Rescue Station No. 9 in Orange Lake seeking help.
Around 12:20 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call about shots fired in the 16300th block of Northwest Gainesville Road, just north of Reddick.
When deputies arrived at the location, they did not find anyone injured. They learned a vehicle had been damaged by gunfire, and they went to the 22000th block of North U.S. 441.
Meanwhile, they were notified about the injured person taken to the fire station.
At the Northwest Gainesville Road scene, deputies had roped off the residence — a mobile home — with yellow crime scene tape.
Detectives interviewed at least one person there after entering the crime scene and briefly checking outside the home.
After the interview, detectives searched the ground and examined the mobile home, looking for evidence.
Those who were near the mobile home told a Star-Banner reporter that they did not know anything about the shooting or declined to comment about what happened there.
Sheriff’s detectives were piecing together the chain of events.
