Police charge suspect after shooting at nightclub

WATERTOWN, NY (WSYR-TV) – Watertown Police are investigating a Saturday morning shooting at a nightclub on Franklin Street.
Jefferson County dispatchers tell NewsChannel 9 that officers were called to Club Rio around 1:20 a.m. after reports of shots fired.
In a statement, Watertown police say 31-year-old Julio E. Landron-Sanchez of Watertown, NY was arrested in connection to the assault.
Landron-Sanchez has been charged with five counts of Assault in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
Lieutenant Detective Joe Donoghue told WWNY reporter Patrick Malowski he could not say how many people were shot. Donoghue added he was not aware of any fatalities and that the shooting took place outside the nightclub.
Five victims were treated at Samaritan Medical Center. One of the five victims was transferred to Upstate Medical in Syracuse. At this time, police have been advised all five victims have been treated and released.
