4 wounded, 1 dead in shooting

CHICAGO, IL – Five people were shot early Saturday on the border of the Bronzeville and Washington Park neighborhoods on the South Side.

The shooting happened about 12:10 a.m. in the 100 block of East 51st Street, Chicago Police said. The five people were standing on a sidewalk when someone in a gray vehicle shot at them.

Four people were taken from the scene to hospitals, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. Another victim walked into a hospital.

Michael Sutton Jr., 31, was pronounced dead Tuesday, four days after the shooting, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in his leg; a 50-year-old man was shot in his back; A 26-year-old man was shot in his head and a 33-year-old man was shot in his lower back, police said.

Area Central detectives were investigating the shooting.
