COLUMBIA, TN – Officers responded to an apparent murder-suicide tonight off Carters Creek Pike, involving a Columbia woman and her four children.

Maury County Sheriff’s Department, Maury County EMS and Maury County Fire Department responded to the scene at the 1000 block of the road near Roy Sellers Road around 6:19 p.m.

The identity of the mother and children were not given, but District Attorney Brent Cooper said the ages of the children ranged from 7 to 16.

MCFD posted an official statement to Facebook.

“MCFD was dispatched at 6:19 PM tonight to a reported shooting call on Carters Creek Pike. Arriving units staged for PD and it became apparent this was a police matter/investigation scene. Units remained on scene to help restrict access,” MCFD wrote.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with our law enforcement, EMS, and dispatch partners having to deal with this tragedy as well as family and friends of those of the family.

“The District Attorney and Maury County Sheriff’s Department will provide any further press releases and information.”
